George Ritzer theorized,
That society has been McDonaldized.
Applying the fast-food entity,
To areas of society.

This phenomenon is more than just a company.
It’s penetrating every area of society.
Fast food is clearly globalized
And plays an important part in consumer’s lives.

Eating fast food has become normalized.
It has forever changed people’s lives.
This phenomenon is not only glocalized,
But certainly, also grobalized.

The success of this interesting theory,
Is attributed to certain entity.
The first on the list is efficiency,
For consumers have to be filled immediately.

Then there is calculability,
Which focuses on the quantity.
Furthermore, predictability,
For consumers must be assured constantly.

And finally, controllability,
To keep consumers in line shortly.
We live in a McDonaldized society.
Look around and pay attention to your community.

Footnote: The poem “McDonaldization” reflects on the concept introduced by sociologist George Ritzer, which describes the process by which the principles of the fast-food industry, particularly McDonald’s, have come to dominate various sectors of society and culture globally. This phenomenon is characterized by four main dimensions: efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control. These dimensions are seen as contributing factors to the success and widespread influence of McDonaldization. In relation to leadership, this concept serves as a cautionary tale about the potential drawbacks of prioritizing efficiency and standardization over creativity and individuality. Leaders should be mindful of balancing these aspects to foster environments that encourage innovation and personal growth while maintaining operational effectiveness.
