I Remain Unbroken

By

Dr. Usha Brandon

They sought to smother the fire
Within my soul,
Yet, against all odds,
My spirit soared.

Cloaked in words that sting and chide,
Their motives masked; their truths denied.
Yet I stood tall, my heart defied,
Though pieces of me quietly died.

Mountains I’ve climbed
To get on the other side.
Unyielding and steadfast,
Never gave up the fight.

They linger, awaiting my intended demise,
But faith predestined, all would be bright.
I am still here,
Resolute and wise.

Thriving and affluent,
Unaffected by their designs.
I am still here,
Standing tall and resilient.

Footnote: This poem emphasizes resilience and determination through overcoming adversity and remaining steadfast.
